The first time I tasted the Swedish whisky Mackmyra Bruks, I thought my taste buds had taken a day off, because I couldn't pick up any notes. Non on the nose, non in the palate. The only thing I could taste was this odd dry clean taste. I went down to my whisky bunker, to fetch a well known bottle. But to my surprise, everything tasted as I remembered it. So what the f**k was going on here. I poured myself another glass of the Mackmyra, and started to nose it, like some old half mad bloodhound, on the hunt for Poul Newman in Cold Hand Luke.
A faint hint of star anise and warm summer days. Was that even a note? "Not really mate!" Then the palate again. Citrus! Or more like someone showing you a picture of a citrus, and you just imagine the taste. Nothing else... Absolutely nothing else... So what can I possibly say? It's not bad, but on the other hand, definitely not good. Or should I say, it's not interesting at all. It just is.

I have read a lot of great things about Mackmyra in general, so I'm eager to try another one.
