St Patrick’s Day is coming up tomorrow and before the world turns green, let’s have a look on 3 different Jameson’s

The standard Jameson is very easy to get by. Every supermarket or Liquor store, with respect for itself, got it in stock. It is very easy to drink, one-dimensional and sweet. It is a straightforward, no nonsense kind of whiskey and one thing you can be sure of, is every time you replace a bottle, the next one is going to taste exactly the same. For as long as I have been into whisky, the standard Jameson has been a stable in my cabinet. It is cheap, reliable and great in a non complicated way. It makes a damn fine companion, when you don’t want to think too hard about, what’s in your glass. It is therefore also the perfect nightcap, when you have been drinking Islay whisky for an entire evening and you find yourself in need of a heavy peat reset button.

The nose got a fresh floral sweetness to it.

The taste is fruity with a ton of whipped vanilla cream.

The finish is spicy and medium long.

Jameson. Special Reserve. 12 Years
Triple Distilled Irish Whiskey

Distillery: Jameson
Region: Midleton, Ireland
Age: 12 Years
Proof/ABV: 40%
DK Price: $60/400dkk
Release: Ongoing

Points: 84/100

Next man on the floor is 12 years old Special Reserve. It is a totally different whiskey, than the standard Jameson. The 12 years in the barrel, have really worked its magic and have brought a faint sherry wood flavor out in the open. It has a more complex and soul warming body, but still silky smooth, with the spicy finish.

The nose is vanilla, caramel and citrus.

The taste is very malty and sherry sweet with dark fruit and chocolate.

Medium long floral finish with wood, cinnamon and a bit of a spicy burn.

Jameson. Select Reserve. Small Batch
Triple Distilled Irish Whiskey

Distillery: Jameson
Region: Midleton, Ireland
Age: NAS
Proof/ABV: 40%
DK Price: $44/290dkk

Points: 78/100

Last Irishman standing, is the Select Reserve Small Batch. Again plenty more oak, compared to the standard Jameson, and a more complex body.

The nose is tropical fruity with vanilla and strawberries.

The taste is full-bodied with and intense creaminess, light peach and how strange it may sound coconut!

The medium long finish is fruity and very dry with oak and cinnamon.
