When I first tasted The Naked Grouse I wasn’t that into it. But after the bottle has been open for some time now, I’m really starting to like it. Rumor has it, that the Naked Grouse contains a high proportion of both Highland Park and Macallan (Certainly not the worst distilleries, someone could pick) and it is matured in first-fill sherry oak casks, or sun dried sherry oak casks, as The Famous Grouse states it. I’m just mentioning it, if anyone couldn’t live without that bit of information. They could have dried there casks, with a hairdryer, for all I care. But I’m pretty sure, that didn’t sound so fancy. But enough of the chit chats. Let’s do some tasting, shall we?

Nose: Malty nose with vanilla, marzipan and some mixed dark fruits and berries.

Taste: Very smooth with an overall taste of sherry, followed by caramel and cinnamon.

Finish: Medium sweet finish with a bit of oak, dark chocolate and allspice.
I’m really impressed by The Naked Grouse. It's a great all around whisky, with a good balance and a fair share of depth and complexity. The nose is a bit thin, but the palate and finish, is more than enough to make amends, for the lack of flavors on the nose.
