WhistlePig is a non-distiller rye whiskey producer, which means they source their whiskey.

WhistlePig imports aged rye whiskey from Canada, and then does additional aging at their farm in Vermont, with part of that aging being in re-used bourbon barrels. The sourced rye whiskey has a mash bill of 100% rye, which makes the whiskey bold and spicy, and the additional aging in bourbon barrels give it a great caramel vanilla sweetness.

Nose: Great nose! Spicy rye, brown sugar and caramel, with a light hint of oak and leather.

Palate: That first sip is a blast of flavor. Sweet vanilla up front, fallowed by sugary caramel and marshmallow notes. As it sits on the plate a big peppery rye and cinnamon kick comes in, then finally the oak comes through.

Finish: This rye seems to last forever. Sweet oak, vanilla wafers and cinnamon. Then there is a long burn that just sits with you.
